1. Introduction to the course. The concept of cultural heritage in international relations – around power, law and politics. Heritage studies and critical heritage studies. Reasons to be ‘critical’ while studying ‘cultural heritage’.

3. The history of ‘cultural heritage’ (2) – linking concepts of cultural heritage and the nation-state. Museums as places of postcolonial encounter.

Efekty kształcenia
Student zna historię rozwoju koncepcji "dziedzictwa kulturowego", umie usytuować ją na tle historycznym i prawnym. Rozumie polityczne znaczenie związane z uznaniem danego obiektu bądź praktyki za "dziedzictwo" i krytycznie analizuje zabiegi państwa na forum międzynarodowym o takie uznanie. Porusza się swobodnie w teoriach nauk humanistycznych i społecznych odnoszących się do dziedzictwa, zwłaszcza w perspektywie krytycznych studiów nad dziedzictwem.
Kryteria oceniania
Uczestnictwo w zajęciach i udział w dyskusjach podczas zajęć oraz praca pisemna [w parach] na podstawie literatury przedmiotu na temat uzgodniony z prowadzącym (case study).
