Ogólna charakterystyka

Studia II stopnia realizowane na Wydziale Nauk Politycznych i Studiów Międzynarodowych to najnowocześniejsza i najbardziej atrakcyjna oferta studiów politologicznych w Polsce. Każdy student wpływa na charakter studiów wybierając spośród przedmiotów fakultatywnych oraz ogólnouniwersyteckich te zajęcia, które są zgodne z jego zainteresowaniami.

Studia przeznaczone są dla osób z tytułem zawodowym licencjata, inżyniera, magistra dowolnego kierunku studiów.

Od drugiego semestru studia mogą być realizowane w ramach czterech specjalności:

  • Administracja publiczna
  • Marketing polityczny
  • Analiza i doradztwo polityczne
  • Infobrokering polityczny

Zajęcia odbywają się w soboty i niedziele, co około dwa tygodnie, w godzinach 800-2000, głównie na terenie Kampusu Centralnego Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego przy ul. Krakowskie Przedmieście.

Sylwetka absolwenta

Absolwent studiów posiada rozszerzoną (w stosunku do studiów I stopnia) wiedzę dotyczącą funkcjonowania sfery polityki, umożliwiającą rozumienie: dynamiki zmian politycznych, strategii decyzyjnych, analizy postaw i zachowań uczestników procesów politycznych i ich wzajemnych relacji oraz interakcji z innymi podmiotami życia społecznego.

Absolwent posiada również wiedzę i umiejętności pozwalające na dokonywanie samodzielnych, pogłębionych analiz i syntez procesów zachodzących w życiu publicznym, kompetentne, zgodne z zasadami etyki kierowanie zespołami ludzkimi i podejmowanie decyzji politycznych. Jest przygotowany do samodzielnego wykonywania pracy w administracji rządowej i samorządowej, organach partii politycznych, organizacjach gospodarczych i społecznych, instytucjach i organizacjach międzynarodowych, a także w mediach oraz szkolnictwie.

Absolwent specjalności Administracja Publiczna posiada dodatkowo umiejętności praktyczne związane z przyszłą pracą w administracji rządowej i samorządowej, instytucjach pozarządowych, partiach politycznych, stowarzyszeniach i fundacjach oraz organizacjach międzynarodowych.

Absolwent specjalności Marketing polityczny posiada dodatkowo umiejętności praktyczne niezbędne do podjęcia pracy w instytucjach marketingowych, w obsłudze działalności politycznej, przy organizacji kampanii politycznych (wyborczych), a także w partiach politycznych i organizacjach społecznych.

Absolwent specjalności Analiza i doradztwo polityczne posiada wiedzę i umiejętności praktyczne wykorzystywane w doradztwie politycznym przez podmioty takie jak partie polityczne, organy administracji rządowej i samorządowej, instytucje analityczne, organizacje trzeciego sektora, a także firmy działające w sektorze publicznym i prywatnym.

Absolwent specjalności Infobrokering polityczny posiada dodatkowo wiedzę na temat mechanizmów zarządzania informacją polityczną, a w szczególności jej pozyskiwania, przetwarzania i wykorzystywania do definiowania i interpretacji wydarzeń politycznych oraz umiejętności różnorodnego raportowania informacji politycznych i wykorzystywania wiedzy politycznej do tworzenia strategii podmiotów politycznych z uwzględnieniem w tym procesie profesjonalnej eksploracji zasobów Internetu.

Absolwent ma również ukształtowane nawyki ustawicznego kształcenia i rozwoju zawodowego oraz jest przygotowany do pracy badawczej i kontynuacji edukacji na studiach trzeciego stopnia (doktoranckich).

Learning outcomes

Knowledge: The graduate knows and understands:

- the nature of political science, trends in development of and research in this field, and its relations to other sciences, especially social sciences;
- the role of an individual in social life, their interactions with the surroundings, and the role of information in social life at a deep level, in historical and modern contexts and also with respect to the newest concepts and theories in social and political development of mankind;
- the forms and conditions of participation in various levels of social life, also within professional and entrepreneurial activities, as well as mechanisms governing the use of knowledge in political science to establish forms of individual entrepreneurship;
- the legal, social, cultural, economic, and historical circumstances of political life;
- the cultural, economic, and political structures that are key to social life, and the changes that they undergo;
- the rules governing the functioning of political systems in comparative terms, as well as the functioning of political organisations and institutions, and social and political mechanisms;
- the strands of current research in political science;
- various concepts and theories of politics in comparative terms;
- mechanisms of political action, communication, governance and decision-making, and their consequences in a diverse timeframe;
- the rules and notions concerning copyright and intellectual property protection, with the need to manage intellectual property resources.

Skills: The graduate is able to:

- critically interpret social and political phenomena of various nature, and analyse their interrelations and interdependencies, using theoretical knowledge in political science;
- independently analyse (using theoretical knowledge) and explain the role of social, cultural, and economic structures in the modern-day world;
- point out the relationships between different concepts of politics, assess their effectiveness, and notice at a deep level the relations between politics and the social, cultural, economic, and historical processes and phenomena within analyses of specific policies and political strategies;
- use systemic rules and norms and show how useful they are in typical and atypical professional situations, noticing and analysing ethical dilemmas in social life;
- critically and independently gain and update their knowledge and develop their professional skills, perform tasks innovatively in diverse conditions, using various sources of knowledge and modern technologies;
- present their own explanations for political phenomena in relation to the changing social and political conditions in Poland and world, justify them, and confront themselves with the views of other students and authors, taking into account mainstream theory;
- collect, prioritise, process, and analyse data, as well as draft written works and oral presentations (including debate moderation) concerning specific topics, with the use of theoretical approaches, various sources, and specialist terminology for political phenomena in Polish and in a foreign language in line with the requirements for level B2+ on the scales of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Social competences: The graduate is ready to:

- independently and critically update, verify, and implement in practice their specialist (i.a. interdisciplinary) knowledge, together with sources of scientific and journalistic information;
- set priorities for the performance of tasks which they or others set themselves in relation to educational and professional goals in political science in both theory and practice;
- represent in various ways (i.a. in an institutionalised form) the diverse interests of social groups, considering the legal, economic, and political aspects of the initiatives pursued;
- correctly identify and solve dilemmas (i.a. ethical dilemmas) related to their profession, and demonstrate involvement in the public sphere;
- think and act in the spirit of entrepreneurship, teleology, creativity, and reliability.
