This is a unique 3-year first-cycle degree (BA) full-time programme with innovative way of thinking about International Relations. The language of instruction of the programme is English. We are looking for internationally oriented candidates, characterised by creative thinking, with a strong motivation to broaden their knowledge of the contemporary world and ready to study in a multicultural environment.

The Programme consists of six semesters (terms) with over 20 courses and diploma seminar aimed at bachelor thesis preparation and individual focus. The first two semesters focus on understanding of International Relations and introduction to the discipline. All courses are taught by experienced academics from Poland with elective courses run by academic teachers from other European, as well as non-European universities. The unique format of the Undergraduate Programme in International Relations not only introduces students to the workings within the field of International Relations, but also makes them responsive to interdisciplinary concerns through law, economics, history and culture. The central location of the University of Warsaw makes the Programme special also in the sense of access to academic and extra-curricular activities for students. In the course of studies, students will have the opportunity to participate in many open lectures held by well-known professors from around the world What is more, students are welcome to apply for a semester abroad in the framework of Erasmus+ Programme and bilateral agreements with universities all over the world (examples include, Mexico, USA, Brasil, India, Republic of Korea). Programme offers 240 hours of foreign language courses and physical education classes.

Employment prospects

The process of diploma thesis preparation leads students to obtaining a bachelor degree (licencjat) recognised in the EU and internationally. Graduates of the Programme can either choose to continue their education at master level or to pursue a professional career especially in international organisations, international business, public administration (especially foreign service and ministries) or non-governmental sector.

About the Faculty

The Faculty of Political Science and International Studies is the oldest and largest political science center in Poland. For many years, the fields of study run by WNPiSM have been awarded the title of the best in Poland (e.g. in the Perspektywy ranking).

Learning outcomes

Knowledge: the graduate knows and understands
– the terminology and the language of international relations; the key phenomena and challenges in the field of international relations;
– the ontological and epistemological assumptions of the science of international relations; the methods and techniques of international relations research;
– the role and significance of actors in international relations;
– the international security challenges and their impact on states' security policies;
– the developmental issues of the contemporary world, global issues and their impact on the dynamics and nature of international cooperation (especially in the framework of its institutionalisation);
– the characteristics of different regions of the world as well as their position and significance in international relations;
– the principles of professional activity in the fields related to international relations, including their ethics; basic notions and principles of industrial property protection and copyright law;
– the principles of entrepreneurial activity leading to innovative solutions to international relations issues.

Skills: the graduate is able
– to apply the recognised methods and techniques, including information and communication techniques, to interpret international relations phenomena and to assess them;
– to conduct a debate on issues in the field of international relations, applying the knowledge acquired in the course of study;
– to speak a foreign language at a CEFR B1 level, both in speech and writing;
– to work in a team for the purpose of finding answers to research questions in the field of international relations;
– plan their educational, scientific and professional development.

Social skills: the graduate is prepared
– to adopt a critical approach to their knowledge and skills and to recognise the significance of expert opinions in the field of international relations issues;
– to organise simple tasks related to social projects in an entrepreneurial manner in order to spread knowledge about the contemporary world and the place of nation states in the globalised international reality;
– to pursue a profession in public administration, international institutions (including governmental and non-governmental organisations) or international business responsibly and in accordance with the ethical requirements of such activities.
