Program studiów realizowany na kierunku Chemia, pierwszego stopnia, obejmuje oprócz podstaw z zakresu chemii również podstawowe zagadnienia z zakresu matematyki oraz fizyki.

W trakcie studiów licencjackich student może w ramach przedmiotów obowiązkowych wybrać indywidualną ścieżkę studiowania. Przedmioty obowiązkowe są proponowane w dwóch wersjach: na poziomie A, który zawiera minimum programowe oraz na poziomie B, który jest programem rozszerzonym. Poza zestawem obowiązkowych przedmiotów, niezbędnych dla wszechstronnego wykształcenia, wiele pozostałych zajęć audytoryjnych i laboratoryjnych studenci wybierają sami, dbając o uzyskanie odpowiedniej liczby punktów ECTS, przypisanych do każdego przedmiotu i typu zajęć.

Absolwent studiów I stopnia kierunku Chemia:

  • posiada rzetelną wiedzę w zakresie ogólnych zagadnień z głównych dziedzin chemii: ogólnej, kwantowej, analitycznej, fizycznej, organicznej, bionieorganicznej, nieorganicznej, spektroskopii molekularnej, krystalografii i analizy struktury związków oraz technologii chemicznej;
  • zna postawy wyższej matematyki oraz fizyki, niezbędne w zaawansowanej edukacji chemicznej;
  • potrafi posługiwać się przyrządami pomiarowymi: mechanicznymi, elektrycznymi i elektronicznymi oraz chemicznym sprzętem laboratoryjnym;
  • zna zasady bezpiecznego posługiwania się substancjami chemicznymi i postępowania z odpadami;
  • potrafi umiejętnie planować i wykonywać podstawowe badania i doświadczenia w dziedzinie chemii, a także posiada umiejętność obserwacji oraz krytycznej oceny własnych wyników i dyskusji błędów pomiarowych;
  • potrafi zastosować odpowiednie metody, techniki i narzędzia badawcze w ramach danej specjalności chemicznej konieczne dla wyjaśnienia postawionego problemu, w tym zaawansowanych technik informacyjno-komunikacyjnych;
  • potrafi korzystać z literatury naukowej, gromadzić i krytycznie analizować dane, przygotowywać i prezentować referaty;
  • zna podstawy programowania i umie posługiwać się różnymi systemami komputerowymi;
  • jest przygotowany do wyrażania opinii dotyczących kwestii zawodowych oraz argumentowania na ich rzecz zarówno w środowisku specjalistów jak i niespecjalistów;
  • jest przygotowany do pracy w zespołach interdyscyplinarnych i wspólnego rozwiązywania problemów zawodowych.

Absolwent ma możliwość podjęcia dalszego kształcenia na studiach II stopnia w kraju lub za granicą.

Absolwent zainteresowany pracą zawodową może starać się o zatrudnienie w laboratoriach przemysłowych i badawczych o profilach chemicznych lub pokrewnych.

Learning outcomes

The graduate has achieved the learning outcomes defined for the Chemistry bachelor’s degree program.
The graduate has extensive knowledge and skills in the field of chemistry, physics and mathematics, allowing to use this knowledge to formulate and solve problems specific to a given field of chemistry.
Has the knowledge and skills to analyse chemistry issues and evaluate this knowledge using professional literature, databases and other sources of information, and can assess the reliability of the information obtained.

Knowledge, the graduate knows and understands:
- the role and place of chemistry in sciences and its contribution to the development of our civilization. He knows the basic concepts and laws of chemistry, knows the symbolism, nomenclature and chemical notation, knows and understands the notation of chemical reactions;
- basics of classical mechanics of material points and a rigid body, basics of fluid mechanics, laws of classical electrodynamics (including electric and magnetic fields, charged particles and electromagnetic waves), and the basics of geometric and wave optics;
- basic mathematical concepts and understands the importance of mathematics as the foundation of science. Knows and understands: basics and methods of linear algebra, basics and methods of differential and integral calculus, as well as basics and applications of probability and mathematical statistics;
- basics of analytical chemistry in the field of qualitative and quantitative analysis methods. He knows the methods and techniques of instrumental analysis. Understand signal dependence on content. Knows and understands issues related to systematic and random errors. Knows the methods of statistical interpretation of the obtained results;
- basics of physical chemistry (in terms of: thermodynamics and thermochemistry, issues related to the state of chemical equilibrium, electrochemistry, interfacial phenomena, transport processes and the theory of chemical kinetics, including catalysis phenomena) with an appropriate mathematical apparatus;
- basics of inorganic chemistry, including the properties of chemical elements and their compounds (including the chemistry of complex compounds);
- basics of organic chemistry and biochemistry (nomenclature, structure of organic compounds, chemical reactions, reaction mechanisms, synthetic methods, occurrence and application). Understands the importance of chemical phenomena in the processes taking place in nature;
- knows the basic aspects of the construction and operation of modern measuring equipment supporting scientific research in chemistry;
- theoretical basis of various molecular spectroscopy. Knows the application of various molecular spectroscopy;
- basics of crystallography in the field of the description of symmetry and structure of crystal lattices, and in the field of X-ray studies of crystals and X-ray determination of the geometric structure of molecules.

Skills, the graduate can:
- apply the known laws of chemistry in the analysis of selected chemical problems;
- use and apply the learned laws of physics in the analysis of selected chemical and physical problems; perform a qualitative and quantitative analysis of inorganic substances, as well as use selected techniques of instrumental analysis to carry out the analysis of inorganic substances;
- solve theoretical problems, as well as plan and perform simple experimental studies in the field of chemical thermodynamics, thermochemistry, chemical kinetics and catalysis as well as electrochemistry, phenomena at phase boundaries and transport processes.
- analyse problems in the field of inorganic chemistry, including the problems of the geometrical and electronic structure of molecules. Can describe and explain the basic types of chemical reactions and their mechanisms;
- analyse problems in the field of organic chemistry, including investigating the mechanisms of organic reactions. He can synthesize selected organic compounds. Can separate mixtures of selected organic compounds and purify the obtained ingredients;
- identify selected organic compounds using chemical, chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques;
- use the methods of molecular spectroscopy to analyse the structure and properties of molecules in the gas and liquid phase;
- use X-ray methods to analyse the structure of crystals and molecules in the crystalline phase.

Social competencies, the graduate is ready to:
- determine the scope of their knowledge, skills and to improve their professional and personal competencies;
- independent undertaking and initiating simple research activities and in the event of difficulties with an independent solution of the problem of consulting experts;
- thinking and acting in an entrepreneurial way;
- fulfilling social obligations and acting in favour of the public interest due to the acquired knowledge and skills;
- responsible performance of professional roles, including observing the rules of professional ethics and demanding it from others, as well as caring for the achievements and traditions of the profession.
