A new International PhD program - supported by the Polish Foundation of Science - is offered by the Faculties of Chemistry of Warsaw University of Technology and University of Warsaw, Poland. The program designed in cooperation with well-recognized international research Partner institutions is entitled
"Towards Advanced Functional Materials and Novel Devices – Joint UW and WUT International PhD Programme"
Subjects of thesis are divided into five work-packages reflecting increasing complexity of the studied materials:
* New reagents for synthesis and components for functional materials (PhD subjects: UW-1, UW-2, UW-3).
* Design and characterization of materials (PhD subjects: PW-1, PW-2, UW-4).
* Semiconducting materials, charge storage and organic light emitting devices (PhD subjects: PW-3, UW-5, PW-4).
* Bioactive molecules for medicine and food (PhD subjects: UW-6, PW-5, PW-6, PW-7).
* Biosensing materials and devices (PhD subjects: PW-8, PW-9, PW-10, UW-7).

* a transcript of university records: 0-12 points;
* a recommendation letter from the diploma thesis tutor: 0-12 points;
* a list of scientific publications: 0-15 points;
* scientific training in a home country: 0-16 points;
* scientific training abroad: 0-16 points;
* participation in scientific conferences: 0-6 points;
* any other professional experience and qualifications/skills that may have an additional value for the execution of the PhD project: 0-5 points.
2. Candidates selected by the Admission Committee will be invited for an interview conducted in English. Interviews will consist of a candidate presentation and examination in front of the Admission Committee and Project Supervisor(s) chosen by the applicant. For international candidates an on-line interview might be arranged. The Admission Committee will judge: the candidate’s general knowledge of material science, ability to present his/her work, ability to pose, answer and discuss scientific questions, as well as general communication skills. Information about the results will be sent by e-mail before January 31, 2011. The total score achieved is not available to the applicant.
