Szczegółowy program studiów

Studia na kierunku Chemia stosowana to studia II stopnia, 3-semestralne, rozpoczynające się od semestru letniego. To kierunek dla absolwentów studiów inżynierskich (7-semestralnych I stopnia) lub II stopnia kierunku z dziedziny nauk ścisłych i przyrodniczych. Celem tego typu edukacji jest przygotowanie pracy dyplomowej i uzupełnienie edukacji o wymagane tematy, w celu osiągniecia efektów kształcenia typowych dla edukacji wyższej drugiego stopnia ogólnouniwersyteckiego z nauk ścisłych.

Absolwent studiów II stopnia kierunku Chemia stosowana:

  • posiada wiedzę w dziedzinie chemii, rozszerzoną w stosunku do studiów I stopnia;
  • wykazuje biegłą znajomość zagadnień z zakresu wybranej specjalizacji;
  • posiada rozszerzoną wiedzę z zakresu BHP, a w szczególności zna zasady bezpiecznego postępowania z chemikaliami, oraz selekcji i utylizacji odpadów chemicznych;
  • zna podstawowe regulacje prawne związane z bezpieczeństwem chemicznym, potrafi też w sposób odpowiedzialny stosować tę wiedzę w pracy zawodowej (w tym - dokonywać analizy ryzyka);
  • jest przygotowany do pracy w laboratoriach chemicznych, zarówno tradycyjnych jak i wyposażonych w zaawansowaną aparaturę badawczą.
  • umie gromadzić i krytycznie analizować dane potrzebne do przygotowania publikacji naukowej;
  • potrafi przygotować i prezentować referaty w języku angielskim a także prowadzić w tym języku merytoryczne dyskusje ze specjalistami;
  • posiada umiejętności wystarczające do rozwiązywania problemów chemicznych, również niestandardowych, zwłaszcza w zakresie wybranej specjalizacji;
  • ma wpojone nawyki ustawicznego kształcenia i rozwoju zawodowego;
  • jest przygotowany do organizowania pracy grupowej i do kierowania pracą zespołową;

Absolwent ma możliwość podjęcia dalszego kształcenia na studiach doktoranckich w kraju lub za granicą.
Absolwent zainteresowany pracą zawodową może starać się o zatrudnienie w laboratoriach przemysłowych i badawczych o profilach chemicznych lub pokrewnych, w wydawnictwach naukowych itp.

Learning outcomes

The graduate has achieved the learning outcomes defined for the Applied Chemistry master’s degree program.
The graduate can critically evaluate the results of experiments carried out independently within his chemical specialty, as well as discuss the uncertainty of measurements, can independently plan and perform theoretical and practical research, as well as innovatively solve practical problems not described in the available sources.
Has an in-depth knowledge and skills to analyse chemistry issues and evaluate this knowledge using professional literature, databases and other sources of information, and can assess the reliability of the information obtained.

Knowledge, the graduate knows and understands:
- has extended knowledge about the place of chemistry in natural sciences, and about its importance for human development;
- knows the aspects of construction and operation of modern measuring equipment supporting scientific research in chemistry;
- has in-depth knowledge and skills in the field of a selected chemical specialization, allowing the use of methods and concepts appropriate for this specialization and allowing for independent research work;
- has advanced knowledge and skills in the field of computational methods appropriate for a given chemical specialization;
- knows the aspects of construction and operation of modern measuring equipment supporting scientific research in a given chemical specialization;
- has extensive knowledge of occupational health and safety, and in particular knows the rules of safe handling of chemicals, and the selection and disposal of chemical waste. He knows the basic legal regulations related to chemical safety, he is also able to use this knowledge responsibly in his professional work (including risk analysis);
- knows the basics of nuclear chemistry and understands the importance of radioactivity in science, technology and medicine;
- has a good understanding of the current trends in the development of chemistry and the latest scientific discoveries in a given chemical specialization.

Skills, the graduate can:
- apply appropriate methods, techniques and research tools within a given chemical specialty, necessary to explain the given problem;
- independently plan and perform experiments within his chemical specialty;
- critically evaluate the results of independent experiments within his chemical specialty, as well as discuss measurement errors;
- apply the acquired knowledge to related scientific disciplines, as well as work in interdisciplinary teams;
- use the techniques of biochemistry and use simple biological processes in chemistry and technology;
- analyse problems in the field of nuclear chemistry, can assess its significance and threats to the society;
- discuss the place of chemistry in the system of exact and natural sciences, and its importance for the development of our civilization;
- present the results of the most important discoveries in the field of chemistry and related sciences understandably also for non-specialists.

Social competencies, the graduate is ready to:
- understand the need and knows the possibilities of continuous training. Can independently search for information in literature (also foreign-language) and use expert advice;
- work in a team and is aware of the responsibility for jointly performed tasks related to teamwork;
- organize own and teamwork as part of the implementation of joint tasks and projects and critically assesses its advancement. It independently undertakes and initiates simple research activities;
- be convinced of the importance of professional behaviour, adheres to the principles of professional ethics;
- formulate opinions on professional issues and argue for them, both in the environment of specialists and non-specialists;
- think and act in a creative and entrepreneurial manner.
