Musicology, full-time, second cycle programme (S2-MZ)

Założeniem całego procesu dydaktycznego na drugim etapie studiów jest stymulowanie studentów do samodzielnych poszukiwań badawczych, inspirowanie ich do podejmowania odważnych eksperymentów intelektualnych, kształtowanie krytycyzmu, zachęcanie do formułowania indywidualnych wniosków, uwrażliwianie na możliwość postrzegania każdego przedmiotu badań w szerokiej perspektywie humanistycznej. Tak sformułowane cele dobrze przygotowują absolwentów studiów II stopnia do kontynuowania procesu kształcenia na studiach III stopnia i studiach podyplomowych różnych specjalności.

Ogólnoakademickie studia muzykologiczne pozwalają również ich uczestnikom dobrze odnajdywać się na rynku pracy w bardzo różnych sytuacjach zawodowych. Studenci mają również możliwość poszerzania swoich kompetencji zawodowych uczestnicząc w zajęciach tworzących odrębne specjalizacje: nauczycielską i redaktorską.

Przewidywane możliwości zatrudnienia (wskazane na podstawie badania losu absolwentów): Instytut Sztuki PAN, instytucje kultury, takie jak np. rozgłośnie radiowe (szczególnie Program II Polskiego Radia), stacje telewizyjne, prasa, firmy fonograficzne, domy kultury, teatry operowe (np. Teatr Wielki – Opera Narodowa) filharmonie (np. Filharmonia Narodowa) i analogiczne instytucje (np. Sinfonia Varsovia), Narodowy Instytut Fryderyka Chopina, Stowarzyszenie im. Ludwiga van Beethovena, Instytut Adama Mickiewicza, Związek Kompozytorów Polskich, Polskie Centrum Informacji Muzycznej, szkolnictwo muzyczne, biblioteki muzyczne (np. Oddział Zbiorów Muzycznych BUW, Biblioteka Narodowa), sklepy muzyczne, oraz inne.

Learning outcomes

I. Knowledge – a graduate:
– has in-depth knowledge of the subject and methods of musicology that he is able to develop and apply creatively in professional activities;
– has detailed knowledge about the contemporary achievements, centers and research schools of selected areas of scholarship and sub-disciplines of musicology;
– knows and understands advanced methods of analyzing, interpreting, evaluating and problematizing various creations of musical culture appropriate for selected research traditions, theories and schools in the field of musicology, including different areas of scholarship and musicological sub-disciplines.
II. Competences – a graduate:
– has in-depth research competences enabling the formulation of original solutions to complex problems in the field of musicology and its sub-disciplines, including: analyzing the work of other authors, synthesizing various ideas and views, selecting research methods, elaborating and presenting research results;
– has the ability to synthesize knowledge from different sub-disciplines of musicology;
– is able to conduct a critical analysis and interpretation of different kinds of creations of musical culture to determine their meanings, social impact and place in historical-cultural process, using novel approaches and taking into account new achievements of musicology;
– has the ability of substantive argumentation using his own views and the views of other authors, making conclusions and creating synthetic summaries;
– has the ability to frame and communicate critical opinions on the creations of musical culture based on musical experience and research knowledge as well as the ability to present critical studies;
– is able to independently acquire knowledge and broaden research competences as well as take autonomous actions aimed at developing their abilities and directing his/her professional career.
III. Social competences – a graduate:
– is prepared to actively participate in actions devoted to the cultural heritage of mankind.
