Applied Linguistics, full-time, BA programme (S1-PRK-LS-1)

(in Polish: Lingwistyka stosowana, stacjonarne, pierwszego stopnia)

Kierunek lingwistyka stosowana przyporządkowany jest do dziedziny nauk humanistycznych w dyscyplinach językoznawstwo (dyscyplina wiodąca) oraz literaturoznawstwo. Studia na kierunku lingwistyka stosowana umożliwiają studiowanie dwóch języków obcych: pierwszego (tzw. język B) i drugiego (tzw. język C).

Kierunek lingwistyka stosowana jest prowadzony przez dwie jednostki: IKSI (Instytut Komunikacji Specjalistycznej i Interkulturowej) oraz ILS (Instytut Lingwistyki Stosowanej). Oba Instytuty mieszczą się w budynku przy ulicy Dobrej 55, który jest siedzibą Wydziału Lingwistyki Stosowanej.

Na kierunku realizowane są następujące specjalności - począwszy od semestru drugiego:

Przekład i technologie tłumaczeniowe – w językach:

  • angielski, francuski, hiszpański, niemiecki, rosyjski – jako język B, czyli studiowany pierwszy język obcy;
  • angielski, francuski, hiszpański, japoński, niemiecki, rosyjski, szwedzki, Polski Język Migowy (PJM) – jako język C, czyli studiowany drugi język obcy; język japoński, szwedzki i PJM studiowane są od podstaw;

Terminologia i tłumaczenia specjalistyczne – w językach:

  • angielski, niemiecki, rosyjski, włoski – jako język B, czyli studiowany pierwszy język obcy;
  • angielski, niemiecki, niemiecki od podstaw, rosyjski, rosyjski od podstaw, włoski, włoski od podstaw – jako język C, czyli studiowany drugi język obcy.

Opcjonalna specjalność nauczycielska realizowana jest w jednym z języków (B albo C) bądź w dwóch językach (B i C):

  • angielski, francuski, hiszpański, niemiecki, rosyjski, włoski. Wybór tej specjalności – jako dodatkowej – student deklaruje po przyjęciu na kierunek.

Kandydat wybiera specjalność po wpisie na listę studentów. W przypadku, gdy liczba chętnych na daną specjalność przewyższa liczbę oferowanych miejsc (dotyczy to języków, w których oferowane są obie specjalności tj. sześciu kombinacji: j. angielski – j. niemiecki, j. angielski – j. rosyjski, j. niemiecki – j. angielski, j. niemiecki – j. rosyjski, j. rosyjski – j. angielski, j. rosyjski – j. niemiecki), o możliwości zapisu decyduje wynik uzyskany w procesie rekrutacji na studia.

W ramach kierunku lingwistyka stosowana student doskonali znajomość dwóch języków obcych, uczestnicząc w zajęciach z kształtowania kompetencji komunikacyjnych, z fonetyki, gramatyki opisowej oraz kontrastywnej, a także podczas innych zajęć prowadzonych w studiowanych językach.

Kompetencję przekładową rozwija podczas warsztatów tłumaczeniowych i wykładów z translatoryki, a kompetencję kulturową podczas zajęć z literatury i wiedzy o kulturze i historii krajów studiowanych języków.

Kompetencje badawcze student rozwija w ramach wykładów z językoznawstwa, w tym m.in. leksykografii, terminologii, translatoryki, w ramach wykładów z literaturoznawstwa, a także w ramach przedmiotów fakultatywnych pogłębiających wiedzę z zakresu wymienionych wyżej dziedzin, proseminariów i seminariów przygotowujących do napisania pracy licencjackiej.

W ramach opcjonalnej specjalności nauczycielskiej student zdobywa niezbędną wiedzę i umiejętności z zakresu nauczania języków obcych w ramach przedmiotów metodycznych i pedagogicznych.

Wielkim atutem studiów na kierunku lingwistyka stosowana jest mobilność studentów. Polega ona na realizacji zagranicznych studiów częściowych w ramach programu Erasmus+. Wyjazdy stypendialne studentów kierunku lingwistyka stosowana stały się konstytutywnym elementem studiów. Wyraźna tendencja wzrostowa zaznacza się także wśród studentów przyjeżdżających na studia na kierunku lingwistyka stosowana w ramach programu Erasmus+. Dzięki temu kierunek lingwistyka stosowana wyróżnia wysoki stopień umiędzynarodowienia.

Absolwenci studiów licencjackich na kierunku lingwistyka stosowana posiadają następujące umiejętności i kwalifikacje:

  1. Każdy absolwent posiada zbliżoną do rodzimej znajomość dwóch języków obcych w mowie i piśmie (kompetencja komunikacyjna na poziomie C1 biegłości Europejskiego Systemu Opisu Kształcenia Językowego Rady Europy)
  2. Każdy absolwent posiada umiejętność przekładu w ramach trzech języków, tj. A (język polski), B (studiowany pierwszy język obcy) i C (studiowany drugi język obcy).
  3. Każdy absolwent posiada umiejętności umożliwiające podejmowanie wszelkiego rodzaju prac wymagających dobrej znajomości języków i kultury danych obszarów językowych, w tym głównie prac tłumaczeniowych.
  4. Każdy absolwent jest przygotowany do prowadzenia podstawowych badań naukowych z zakresu językoznawstwa i literaturoznawstwa.

Ponadto absolwent lingwistyki stosowanej na specjalności przekład i technologie tłumaczeniowe :

  • zna podstawy przekładu pisemnego w wymiarze teoretycznym i stosuje je w wymiarze praktycznym – w zakresie obu studiowanych języków (odpowiednio: podstawy przekładu migowego w przypadku PJM);
  • potrafi zastosować narzędzia analizy dyskursu na potrzeby przekładu,
  • potrafi dokonać przekładu pisemnego w ramach obu studiowanych języków i języka polskiego,
  • zna podstawy przekładu ustnego w stopniu pozwalającym na dalszą specjalizację, posiada umiejętność przekładu konsekutywnego krótkich wypowiedzi bez notacji,
  • zna podstawy przekładu audiowizualnego,
  • posiada umiejętność przekładu z zastosowaniem różnorodnych technologii cyfrowych, a także z zastosowaniem narzędzi CAT.

Ponadto absolwent lingwistyki stosowanej specjalności terminologia i tłumaczenia specjalistyczne :

  • potrafi posługiwać się specjalistyczną terminologią (np. ekonomiczną, prawną, naukowo-techniczną, medyczną, z dziedziny kultury i sztuki, literaturoznawczą) w studiowanych językach obcych,
  • potrafi tłumaczyć teksty specjalistyczne o niskim i średnim stopniu nasycenia terminologią fachową, wykorzystując do tego dostępne na rynku narzędzia elektroniczne wspomagające pracę tłumacza,
  • posiada wiedzę o strukturze różnego rodzaju słowników oraz zna zasady tworzenia słowników terminologicznych,
  • potrafi wyszukiwać i krytycznie oceniać formy ekwiwalentne w słownikach terminologicznych, a także potrafi stosować w pracy tłumacza odpowiednie media.

Ponadto absolwent, który zrealizował dodatkowy moduł – opcjonalną specjalność nauczycielską – rozpoczyna przygotowanie do nauczania jednego języka obcego (B albo C) bądź dwóch języków obcych (B i C) - które po kontynuacji na studiach magisterskich zapewni pełne uprawnienia do nauczania języków obcych w szkołach publicznych zgodnie z Rozporządzeniem Ministerstwa Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego z dnia 25 lipca 2019 r.

The graduate has achieved the learning outcomes defined for the study programme, including the learning outcomes defined for the obligatory specialisation ‘Translation and Translation Technologies’.
Upon the completion of their studies, the BA graduate:
1. knows the structure of language as a system, has a basic knowledge of the place and importance of linguistics (general and applied) and literary studies within the system of sciences and understands their specific features
2. knows basic terminology and has a systematic knowledge of phonetics, phonology and descriptive grammar of the two foreign languages studied, as well as knowledge of contrastive grammar (applies to the relationship between Polish and one selected foreign language)
3. has a general knowledge of the culture and literature of the studied languages, understands the role of language in communication between people and cultures,
4. has advanced knowledge of the principles of grammar and use of Polish language and applies them in practice,
5. is proficient in two foreign languages studied at C1 level of Common European Framework of Reference for Languages,
6. is ready to interact and work in a group, assuming various roles within it (including that of a linguistic and cultural mediator) and observing the principles of professional ethics (depending on the chosen module - translator's or teacher's professional ethics),
7. is familiar with the basic terminology in the field of general and applied linguistics, especially translation studies, with special emphasis on the types of translation, translation theory, translation techniques and strategies,
8. is familiar with the basic rules concerning the work of a translator within various forms of entrepreneurship (freelance, translation agencies etc.) on the national and international market, and knows the basic rules of cooperation with institutions (publishing houses)
9. is able to use sources, dictionaries, parallel texts, adequately evaluating their usefulness in searching for translation equivalents,
10. is able to produce professional-quality written translations of texts from a foreign language into Polish and from Polish into a foreign language (this applies to the two languages studied),
11. has basic specialist skills in tranlsation and interpretation with the use of modern translation technologies,
12. is able to act as a mediator in intercultural communication situations, taking into account cultural differences,
