BA Seminar: Gender in Popular Culture 4219-ZS004
The focus of this BA seminar is on the ways gender is present and represented in US popular culture. It is suitable for students who want to critically examine the ways in which gender affects various aspects of culture. Students who would like to analyze unusual aspects of culture, such as food, fashion, interior design or sports are also welcome. I encourage close reading of texts and intersectional readings.
We will start the semester with discussions of some examples of critical analysis of texts of culture with a focus on gender. Over the course of the semester students will be expected to plan their BA paper, find and evaluate potential sources, prepare a detailed outline, present their theses and findings, and write a BA paper.
