The key problems related to economic migrations and their significance for the EU’s labour markets will be divided into thematic blocs:
Europe’s demographic problems (2 hours)
Free movement of people – legal basis, practice (2 hours)
Migrants in the European labour market (2 hours)
The problem of unemployment in the EU (2 hours)
The labour market in the EU – selected countries (2 hours)

e. Poland
The EU’s employment policy and social security system (2 hours)
The impact of the economic crisis on labour markets and migrations (2 hours)
Summary and credit (1 hour)

Learning outcomes
After the conclusion of the education process the students should:
KNOWLEDGE:
1. Have knowledge of Europe’s demographic situation,
2. Know and understand the fundamental notions related to the European labour market, such as: employment policy, labour market protection policy, economic migrants, social security system,
3. Understand the processes of decision-making in EU institutions and Member State bodies with regard to the national labour markets,
4. Have knowledge of the problems related to migrants in the European labour markets, including cultural differences and adaptation problems,
SKILLS:
• Be able to conduct an independent analysis of documents concerning actions taken in the labour market,
• Be able to enter into a discussion on relevant literature and use examples of good and bad practice of the Member States in the field of employment policy,
• Be able to present the positions of the individual states on state migration policy and their actions in labour markets,
ATTITUDES:
• Show greater independence in using theoretical knowledge in the analysis of key phenomena in the field of economic and political relations,
• Develop an attitude of tolerance towards otherness, multiculturality and acceptance,
• Be more responsible doe to the fact that attendance at the lectures in non-obligatory and not verified and because the student is given the choice whether to participate in acquiring the knowledge presented there,
• Be more diligent and honest thanks to rigorous enforcement of exam requirements.
Assessment criteria
Oral test: credit will be given if the student obtains at least 60 % of the points
