African language and culture 3600-7-AF1-JKA(L)
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the grammatical structures of Amhariclanguage and its lexis, and at the same time to improve linguistic and communicative skills (reading skills, understanding written and oral texts, constructing written statements) at a lower initial level.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course included in the program, the student:
- has genuine knowledge of rules of communication, writing, reading in the Amharic language (K_W09)
- can behave in an adequate way, react verbally and mediate in communication in the socio-cultural context of Ethiopia (K_U16)
- understands the need to learn all one’s life, can inspire and organize other people’s process of learning (K_K01)
- can actively cooperate and work in a group as well as forge relationships and build social relations (K_K02)
- can actively establish relations and cooperate with representatives of other cultures (K_K03)
- can use linguistic and cultural competences in professional situations such as aid programmes, government programmes, immigration problems, national security issues (K_K12)
Assessment criteria
The final grade will be the average of all grades obtained during the semester. Written tests and other assessed written and oral assignments will be given to the students
Attendance control - a student can be absent maximum twice during the semester. In the case of absence due to illness, the medical certificate excusing this absence should be submitted within seven days of the last day of the leave specified in the certificate.
