Swahili Language 3600-5-AF1-JS2.2
At the course of practical Swahili a student will gain basic grammatical and lexical knowledge of the language and will learn and practice how to conduct everyday conversations, read and write basic texts.
Special attention will be given to the differences between the structure of Swahili language and Polish, and to cultural knowledge.
After finishing the course a student will be able to communicate in everyday situations (in the shop, visiting a doctor, or taking a trip). He will know how to introduce himself and how to carry a conversation on a general topic.

After finishing the course a student:
Knowledge
has basic knowledge of Swahili language (its structure, vocabulary, politeness expressions). K_W12
knows the given lexicon, collocations, sayings, idioms, useful phrases;
knows the basic grammar needed to perform a basic communication;
is aware of the complex nature of Swahili language. K_W13
is aware of the linguistic variety of the world. K_W14
has rudimentary knowledge of translation rules from Swahili language into Polish. K_W15
Skills
has a basic command of Swahili language at the A1 level (K_U12):
- the students can read and write Swahili texts;
- can formulate short written statements;
- can distinguish phonemes and words in a spoken statement;
- can translate basic written and spoken statements;
- can apply known lexical and grammatical material in a natural context;
- can identify part of speech and part of sentences;
- can summarize a longer text stressing its main message;
- can justify usage of particular grammatical forms;
- is able to assess accuracy of a communication in a given context.
