Platonism and aristotelism 3501-NZ-F20-32
The course will consist of a lecture and tutorial part.
The lecture will be present the historical origins, main trends and some special tendencies of platonic and aristotelic metaphysics as well as philosophical aspects of the issues, namely their basic principles, foundations and presuppositions, their relationships to problems in other philosophical domains. We will also discuss some metatheoretical problems these trends.
The aim of the tutorial part will be the interpretation philosophical texts and discussion on the relevant metaphysical problems.

Learning outcomes
The student has an extended knowledge of the main issues and directions and positions within the classical philosophy based on the reading of the sources.
The student is able to take part in a discussion concerning the philosophical problems;
is able to reconstruct ideas of the given authors and to confront different ideas and views of different philosophers; precisely formulates philosophical problems and criticizes them.
Student has a deepened awareness of the importance of metaphysical reflection for the cultural and social sphere; student be able to respect rules of the scientific discussion.
Assessment criteria
The final grade will be based on oral exam and active attendance at classes.
Classess: The final grade will be based on the level of participation in the discussions as well as on the value of the presentation or paper.
