British Art through Ten Centuries. A Synoptic View 3301-KB1414
The course offers a survey of the history of British painting and architecture, from prehistory to the second half of the 20th century. The course is chronologically organised. After the overview of the prehistoric, Roman, Celtic, and Anglo-Saxon period, the corse focuses on the Medieval, Tudor and Stuart art. Then more attention is paid to the 18th and 19th century including subjects such as the Enlightenment, return to nature, Romanticism, the Industrial Revolution, Academic art and the Pre-Raphaelites. The last part of the course is devoted to the art of the 20th century including the period of Modernism and the two world wars.
In case of online education: students will receive weekly prerecorded video materials. Moodle, Youtube and GoogleMeet platforms will be used. Live GoogleMeet classes will be held every other week during the time slot provided for the course.

In class discussions students acquire skills of expressing their thoughts in a clear, coherent, logical and precise manner, with the use of language which is correct grammatically, lexically and phonetically.
Assessment criteria
Tests during the semester, final oral exam including the student's presentation on the subject of a chosen artist.
3 absences are allowed.
