The aim of the course entitled Audiovisual Culture is to present and familiarise students with authors, terms, concepts in which modern audiovisuality is described and discussed.
The converstatory during the first semester will provide an overview of contemporary theories of audiovisual culture, students' activity is focused on presentations, screenings, discussion.
The aim of the conversatory is to examine and present the audiovisual modern experience (which is divided into a few themes like for example: photography, film, television in culture.
Additional element of classes is common readings of texts (selection), approaches to interpretation of thesis stated and carefully selected screenings and presentation.

Learning outcomes
Student after finishing the course should be able to (among other competences):
- recognize and be familiarise with basic concepts in which modern audiovisual experience is described
- analyse audiovisual text (like for example film or short clip)
- identify authors and publications related to the visual studies.
It is worth to mention that all the classes are always accompanied by multimedia presentations. As the result, student will gain lot of possibilities to deep and form her/his analytical competencies.
Assessment criteria
The course finishes the written exam (short questions, test and essay question) based on issues reflected during classes. Two absences possible during the course. Students receive detailed schedule of lessons and selection of literature - if needed. Students are encouraged to pro-activeness, to present their views and reflection.
Continuous assessment – conversatory classes are focused on discussions and students' activities.
Bibliography
All eventual readings proposed to students are in Polish. During the classes there will be additional activities based on selected readings.
The integral part of the classes are multimedia presentations prepared by the lecturer and audiovisual fragments and exercises. Additional literature, please see Polish language version.
