Students can understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.; they can understand the main points of many radio or TV programmes on current affairs or topics of personal or professional interest when the delivery is relatively slow and clear. Students understand texts consisting mainly of the most common words related to everyday or professional life. He/she understands descriptions of events, feelings and desires in private correspondence. (Reading Comprehension).
They can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in a country or region where the language is spoken. Students can participate in conversations on familiar topics of private or everyday life (e.g. family, hobbies, work, travel and current events). (Communicatio
Students combine expressions in a simple way to describe experiences and events as well as dreams, hopes, and ambitions; they can briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans and report on events and narrate the plot of a book or film, describing his/her reactions and impressions. (speaking).
Students learn to write simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest. They can write personal letters describing their experiences and impressions. (writing).
The workload of the student:
120 hours (4 ECTS credits).
Organized hours - 4 hours per week x 1 semester =60 hours (2 ECTS)
The unassisted student work: 30 hours preparing for the classes (1 ECTS), 30 hours preparing for the final test (1 ECTS).

The student knows and understands spoken and written English in accordance with the requirements of level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (K1_W10)
The student is able to communicate orally and in writing in English according to the requirements of level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (K1_U10)
The student is able to critically evaluate the knowledge he possesses and the content he receives (K1_K01)
Assessment criteria
Conditions for passing the course and admission to the final test, assessment components:
- control tests and translation tests - 25%
- group and individual presentations - 25%
- final test - 50%.
Final test (written), where the evaluation criteria are presented in the form of percentage thresholds:
60% - 68% - 3
69% - 77% - 3+
78% - 86% - 4
87% - 95% - 4+
96% - 98% - 5
99% -100% - 5!
A student is entitled to 3 unexcused absences, each subsequent absence requires an excuse. The lecturer decides about accepting the absence.
The form of crediting the classes in which the student was absent is determined by the lecturer.
Exceeding excused and unexcused absences in 50% of classes may be the basis for failing the course.
If it is not possible to conduct classes in a stationary form, classes will be held using distance communication tools, most likely Zoom and Classroom and others recommended by UW.
In case of distance learning, it is possible to change the form of the final exam/test from written to oral.
