The following content is covered during classes:
1. Glottodidactics as a science (outlining the history of the field including Belarusian glottodidactics); terminology (glottodidactics, methodology, linguidactics, foreign language, second language, inherited language, etc.), and the subject of research.
Teaching/learning foreign languages in general and in a specific cultural and sociolinguistic context (bilingualism, multilingualism and the linguistic situation in Belarus and other countries)
3. Who and why does one learn a foreign language (including Belarusian?) - the profile of the student, approaches and methods of teaching and learning.
Language policy and language training in EU and non-EU countries (language certification).
5 Similarities and differences in the teaching / learning of a foreign language.
Language learning difficulties, language errors and learning, the prognosis for and therapy of difficulties (lapsology, bias)
7 Textbooks and multimedia in the teaching/learning of a foreign language.
8 Foreign language curricula.
9 Discussion of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
10. Techniques for teaching skills and subsystems of language, real-life issues.

Upon completion of the course the student:
1. knows and understands
- the subject matter and methodology of linguistic research in-depth
- linguistic terminology in-depth, including advanced knowledge in detail
- in greater depth the main directions in which linguistic research is developing and the main contemporary problems and challenges
2. can
- formulate and analyse research problems in linguistics, select innovative research methods and tools, including advanced information and communication technologies, and develop and present results, including in unpredictable conditions
- critically examine selected methods and tools, including advanced ICT, and propose other areas for their application
- formulate and test hypotheses related to simple research problems in linguistics
- use theoretical approaches, research paradigms and concepts specific to linguistics during debates and discussions with a variety of audiences
- recognise the links between linguistics and other disciplines and identify the practical implications
- use a foreign language at the level indicated in the description of the subject, including in specialist communication
- manage, and collaborate in, teamwork
- plan and implement their own lifelong learning and guide others in this regard
3. is ready
- to critically assess their knowledge and the content received
- to recognise the importance of knowledge in solving cognitive and practical problems and draw on expert advice
- to set priorities for the implementation of their social commitment task
- for classes on a regular basis, and the evaluated tasks performed

Two absences are allowed.
The conditions for the retakes are the same.
