The classes will discuss:
- aims and objectives of legal and jurisprudential linguistics, basic concepts, directions of contemporary research on the interaction of language and law, place of jurisprudential linguistics among other disciplines;
- social significance of the discipline;
- History of development of legislative style and legal vocabulary in Belarus;
- Linguistic rights, language policy and status of languages in Belarus. The linguistic situation in the Belarusian lands from the times of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania to the present day. Legislation of the Belarusian language. Multilingualism, monolingualism, bilingualism in the history of Belarus;
- Features of the language of law, main mistakes in editing legal texts, language and style of an official document.
- Features of legal vocabulary and terminology, requirements for terms of use;
- problems of development of Belarusian legal terminology under conditions of modern bilingualism;
- genesis and ways of forming legal terms, legal terminology.
- The role of Latin in the formation of legal terminology and legal language;
- Spelling of terms;
- Features of translation of legal texts and terms. Electronic translation of a legal text, typical mistakes;
- Culture of official speech and language etiquette.

Students will know and understand;
the material and methodological specificity of linguistic research
the functioning of language in various contexts, including literature, culture, religion, history, art, politics, economy and media
the nature of language, the nature and influence of historical and cultural changes on its development
notions and principles of intellectual property protection, especially copyright
Students will be able to:
search for, analyse, evaluate, select and use information using multilingual sources, including Internet sources, in unpredictable conditions
formulate and analyse research problems in the field of linguistics, select innovative research methods and tools, including advanced information and communication techniques, as well as prepare and present results, also in unpredictable conditions
use theoretical approaches, paradigms and concepts relevant to linguistics in debates and discussions with a variety of audiences
identify links between linguistics and other disciplines and indicate practical implications
use a foreign language at a level indicated in the course description, also in specialist communication
manage teamwork and cooperate in teamwork
plan and implement their own lifelong learning and direct others in this respect
The student is prepared to:
critically evaluate the knowledge possessed and the content received
identify priorities in order to fulfil their task in the field of social obligations
to correctly identify and solve professional dilemmas, while respecting the traditions and principles of professional ethics and developing their own professional competence

99 - 100% - 5! (excellent)
93 - 98% - 5 (very good)
87 - 92% - 4,5 (good plus)
77 - 86% - 4 (good)
71 - 76% - 3,5 (sufficient plus)
60 - 70% - 3 (sufficient)
Less than 60% - 2.0 (fail)
2 absences from classes are allowed.
The conditions for a resit are the same.
