Northen Europe in the Viking times 3101-DW0033-OG
The lecture will cover basic information about history and archaeological data the lands situated around the Baltic Sea. The topic points would be concerned the cultural and economical situation in Scandinavia during the Viking Age (8th/9th - 11th/12th cc.). The lecture also offers the listeners wide spectrum of relations the Scandinavians with other ethnic groups settled in this region of Europe: Slavs, Balts and Baltic Finns.

Learning outcomes
After two semesters of the lectures the participants of the course should be educated in all problems pointed above (see: Basic information) on the elementary level. Most of the information presented during the lecture will come from the diffused literature, printed in several languages. But many of them students should be able to find in added literature, presented to them after the end of the bigger units of the lecture.
Assessment criteria
The course will be ended by an exam (written, test) which cover whole knowledge presented on the lectures
