Topology I * 1000-113aTP1*
- Metric spaces. Open and closed sets.
- Topological spaces.
- Continuous mappings and homemorphisms.
- The basis. The interior and the closure. Dense and boundary sets.
- Operations on topological spaces.
- Connected spaces.
- Compactness in metric and topological spaces.
- Complete spaces. Baire theorem. Banach theorem.
- Topology in function spaces.
- Homotopy of mappings. The homotopy type of a space.
- Homotopy classes of a loop on a circle. Applications.
In principle the program is basically the same as for the basic Topology course. However, its contents will be presented in more depth and often in more generality.
The course is addressed to students with deeper interest in the subject, who like to work on related problems.
